Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and whisk in the milk mixture to make a smooth batter.

Working in batches of three at a time pour ¼ cups of batter into the pan. Heat a heavy-bottomed non-stick pan over a low-medium heat and coat it with oil. In another bowl or jug add the egg buttermilk and vanilla extract and whisk until just combined.
